Jerry Haegele joined IBM in 1984 at the Research Division’s T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, N.Y. Before his retirement in 2011, he was an IBM Executive and an IBM Distinguished Engineer, which is a very rare honor. "DEs" are personally approved by the CEO of IBM. He also served as the CTO for IBM Applications Services North America Delivery. Jerry was a technical leader in the architecture, design, and implementation of complex enterprise-wide applications and system solutions, strategic application outsourcing, and architectural design and assessments. He is an experienced practitioner in the validation of architectures, provides technical reviews, leads enterprise architecture projects, and also works with teams to resolve problems or discover better IT solutions. He holds patents in Internet and database technologies.
During his time at IBM, Jerry had been the Chief Architect or Chief Engineer for many international commercial projects spanning many industries which included Defense (US DoD and UK MOD), Telco, Healthcare, large Retail Core Banking, Automotive OEM, and others. He held security clearances with the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). His leadership and mentoring was worldwide guiding projects in the US, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Turkey, UK, Belgium, and other countries.

Other duties in IBM included chairing an IBM Global Business Services Invention Disclosure Team and mentoring several IT Architects, IT Specialists, and other IBM Distinguished Engineers. He has been a presenter at International IBM CIO conferences, an invited speaker at conferences held by national and international organizations, and various other technical and leadership events. He has an M.S. from Drexel University and in 2009, he was inducted into the Drexel University College of Engineering Circle of Distinction.
